Ariento and Carahsoft partner to distribute CMMC compliance platform
Ariento has signed a distribution agreement with Carahsoft Technology, making its Enclave One compliance platform available to Defence Industrial Base (DIB) organisations through Carahsoft's reseller and systems-integrator network. The deal extends the reach of Ariento's managed CMMC offering at a moment when US federal contractors face tightening cybersecurity certification deadlines.
Enclave One is pitched as an all-in-one path to Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2. The subscription, which starts at $499 per month, bundles a pre-certified managed environment, Microsoft 365 GCC or GCC-High licensing, required compliance documentation, continuous security operations and an independent third-party assessment carried out by Ariento in its capacity as an authorised C3PAO (CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organisation). The company says eligible organisations can onboard within 72 hours and have their CMMC Level 2 status reflected in the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) within 90 days.
Chris Rose, Managing Partner at Ariento, said the Carahsoft relationship would bring Enclave One to "a much broader segment of the Defense Industrial Base while making CMMC easier to buy, implement and maintain." Alex Whitworth, CMMC Solutions Executive at Carahsoft, described the product as an "accessible, scalable solution" that would help the company's partners connect DIB customers with a route to Level 2 compliance.
CMMC enforcement context
The CMMC programme, administered by the US Department of Defense, requires defence contractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to demonstrate compliance with the NIST SP 800-171 security controls framework. Level 2 certification covers the full 110-control set and, following years of phased implementation, is now being written into contracts. Contractors that cannot demonstrate SPRS scores reflecting compliance risk losing the ability to bid on relevant DoD work.
The compliance burden falls disproportionately on small and mid-sized firms that supply the defence prime contractors. Many lack in-house cybersecurity staff or experience navigating the GCC-High licensing and FedRAMP-boundary requirements that a compliant Microsoft 365 environment entails. Managed CMMC services addressing this gap have multiplied over the past two years, and distribution through Carahsoft's extensive government reseller channel is a plausible route to reaching firms that would not otherwise engage directly with a specialist vendor.
Competitive landscape
The managed CMMC market has become crowded, with dozens of managed security service providers offering Level 2 packages alongside consultancies and system integrators that bundle advisory with assessment. Ariento's differentiation rests partly on holding C3PAO status, which allows it to conduct official certification assessments in addition to managed services. That dual role raises potential conflict-of-interest questions that the DoD's CMMC Accreditation Body has addressed through independence requirements; Ariento has not elaborated publicly on how it manages those boundaries when the same entity provides the managed environment and the assessment.
Carahsoft's position as a government aggregator across hundreds of contract vehicles gives Ariento access to procurement pathways that would otherwise require lengthy vehicle qualification. For smaller DIB suppliers accustomed to buying through cooperative purchasing contracts, that channel availability may matter more than price differences between competing platforms.
The next milestone for the partnership will be evidence of DIB customer conversions and publicly verifiable SPRS score outcomes, neither of which was disclosed in the announcement.
