Tenable opens AI workflow ecosystem with twelve security partners
Tenable Holdings (NASDAQ: TENB) has expanded its partner ecosystem with the launch of Tenable OPEN for AI, a programme that packages validated, ready-to-use AI workflows connecting Tenable's exposure intelligence with third-party security tools. Twelve partners are on board at launch, including SentinelOne, Splunk, Snyk, BeyondTrust, Infoblox, Corelight, Recorded Future and Securonix.
The initiative sits within Tenable's broader Open Partner Exchange Network (OPEN) technology programme. Its distinguishing feature, according to the company, is support for both the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and direct APIs, allowing security teams to integrate whichever AI tooling they already use without building custom connectors. Workflows are available either as documented procedures executable through the Tenable Hexa AI MCP Server, or as pre-packaged skills on the CyberAgents Exchange, described by Tenable as a vendor-agnostic AI agent marketplace.
What the use cases do
Four featured use cases illustrate the practical scope of the launch. The SentinelOne integration allows analysts to triage alerts, vulnerable assets and misconfigurations from a single natural-language chat interface, combining endpoint telemetry with Tenable exposure data. The Corelight integration maps network threat blast radius by overlaying live Tenable asset context onto network telemetry, aiming to help teams rank investigations by potential damage. Snyk's workflow joins developer-found code vulnerabilities with Tenable runtime data to determine whether a given flaw has actually reached production. BeyondTrust contributes privileged account and entitlement context, allowing assets to be risk-ranked on the basis of identity exposure rather than technical severity alone.
Eric Doerr, chief product officer at Tenable, described the platform as "the only exposure management provider offering a truly unrestricted, vendor-agnostic ecosystem of validated AI use cases." The claim of being uniquely unrestricted is the company's own characterisation; Tenable did not provide independent benchmark data or third-party validation in its announcement.
Market context
The launch reflects a broader industry push toward consolidated security operations, often framed as platform consolidation versus best-of-breed stacking. Tenable competes in exposure and vulnerability management against Qualys, Rapid7 and, increasingly, cloud-native posture tools from the major hyperscalers. The MCP standard, originally developed by Anthropic to enable structured tool-calling for AI agents, has gained rapid traction in the security sector as vendors seek interoperable agent frameworks that avoid vendor lock-in.
For enterprise security buyers, the practical question is whether these pre-validated workflows reduce integration overhead meaningfully compared to existing SIEM and SOAR playbooks. Tenable's framing targets the SOC analyst workflow: analysts can ask questions in plain language and receive alerts with vulnerability context attached, without pivoting between platforms. Robert Rossetti, partner engineer at Splunk, captured the value proposition directly: "Every SOC analyst knows the question that follows an alert: is this asset actually vulnerable? Tenable OPEN for AI answers it inside the investigation."
Regulatory and standards read-across
The agentic security workflow model is gaining regulatory attention. The EU AI Act's provisions on high-risk AI systems are relevant wherever AI-driven tooling is used in critical-infrastructure security decisions, and the UK's NCSC has begun publishing guidance on AI in security operations. Neither Tenable nor its partners addressed compliance obligations in the announcement, but enterprise buyers in regulated sectors, particularly financial services and critical national infrastructure, will need assurance that agentic workflows satisfy auditability requirements. Command Zero's co-founder Dov Yoran noted that every investigation step in its integration is "recorded and reviewable," which speaks directly to this concern.
