Infosys delivers SAP S/4HANA rollout for Syngenta crop unit
Infosys has completed the implementation of CP Core, a global SAP S/4HANA transformation for Syngenta's Crop Protection business. The platform is now live, consolidating multiple legacy ERP environments into a single digital core that spans more than 80 countries and supports upwards of 10,000 employees across research, manufacturing, supply chain, regulatory, finance and commercial functions.
The programme was delivered jointly by Infosys and Syngenta and is described by Infosys as drawing on its Topaz AI-first services suite, which the company says uses generative and agentic AI technologies, alongside its Cobalt cloud offerings. The stated objectives were to reduce ERP customisations in line with SAP best practices, improve data quality, and automate routine operational tasks.
Feroz Sheikh, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Syngenta, said: "By bringing our operations onto one modern digital foundation, we are strengthening collaboration, improving agility, and enabling our teams to focus on advancing innovation and delivering the science and solutions that growers rely on."
The deal
Neither party disclosed the financial terms of the engagement, the contract duration, or the total cost of the transformation programme. Infosys did not publish performance benchmarks, quantified efficiency gains, or specifics on which AI capabilities were deployed beyond the broad Topaz and Cobalt branding. The release frames the milestone as the completion of delivery rather than the start of a new commercial arrangement, suggesting the contract was already in force prior to this announcement.
Jasmeet Singh, EVP and Global Head of Manufacturing at Infosys, characterised the outcome as building on a "long-standing collaboration" with Syngenta, indicating this is an extension of an existing client relationship rather than a new logo win.
Market context
Large-scale SAP S/4HANA migrations remain one of the most active workstreams in enterprise IT. SAP's own deadline pressure, the vendor has set 2027 as the end-of-mainstream-maintenance date for its legacy ECC platform, with a migration deadline now extended to 2030 for most customers, has driven a sustained wave of system integrator engagements across manufacturing, life sciences and agribusiness verticals.
Infosys competes directly with Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro and TCS for large SAP transformation contracts. Deals of this scale, spanning 80 countries and five or more functional modules, represent marquee reference accounts that system integrators use extensively in subsequent sales cycles. The Syngenta win therefore carries strategic value beyond its immediate revenue contribution.
The integration of agentic AI tooling into ERP migration programmes is an emerging differentiator in the SI market. SAP's own Business AI layer is increasingly bundled into S/4HANA deployments, and customers are beginning to ask for demonstrable automation outcomes, such as reduced manual reconciliations or accelerated period-end close, rather than simply a modernised platform. Infosys's Topaz positioning signals an intent to compete on that AI-augmented tier, though the release stops short of citing measurable outcomes for the Syngenta deployment.
Regulatory read-across
A rollout touching 80 countries will intersect with a range of data-localisation and cross-border data-transfer rules, including GDPR in Europe and sector-specific agricultural data regulations in certain markets. SAP S/4HANA deployments in regulated industries are also subject to audit-trail and data-integrity requirements under frameworks such as SOX for the US-listed financials that Syngenta Group entities must maintain. Infosys did not address compliance architecture or data-residency configuration in the release.
The next milestones to watch are quantified operational results from CP Core, cycle-time improvements, inventory-accuracy gains or headcount redeployment figures, and any indication of whether the programme will expand to Syngenta's Seeds business unit, which was not in scope for this rollout.
