PwC UK and FloQast expand tie-up to offer AI finance outsourcing

PwC UK will use FloQast's autonomous accounting platform to run clients' month-end close, reconciliations and compliance processes as a managed service.

PwC UK has deepened its relationship with accounting workflow automation vendor FloQast, moving beyond its previous consulting and integration role to actively run finance functions on behalf of UK clients using FloQast's platform. The expanded agreement, announced on 26 October 2026, positions PwC UK's Finance Managed Services (FMS) division as the operator of record for outsourced finance operations delivered through FloQast's tooling.

Under the arrangement, PwC FMS teams will manage month-end close, account reconciliations and compliance activities inside the FloQast environment on a client's behalf. The firm says this gives chief financial officers real-time visibility into the close process, an area where traditional business process outsourcing has historically created blind spots, particularly in hybrid working environments.

What the deal covers

Tony Price, partner and Finance Managed Services leader at PwC UK, framed the announcement around speed and quality of financial reporting: "Finance leaders are under increasing pressure to provide higher-quality information faster. Embedding FloQast in our Finance Managed Services offering gives our clients a new option to transform their period end through AI-enabled delivery, at pace."

Adam Zoucha, chief revenue officer at FloQast, said the combination aims to go beyond conventional business process outsourcing by building finance functions that are scalable and resilient for complex close cycles. FloQast claims a global customer base of more than 3,500 accounting teams, including HubSpot, Huel and lululemon, and markets itself as consistently top-rated across software review platforms, though the release does not cite a named third-party benchmark to support that claim.

PwC says its pre-defined tech stack is designed to compress deployment timelines to weeks rather than months. The offering also promises a permanent digital audit trail intended to reduce year-end pressure for finance teams that have historically relied on manual spreadsheets and informal handoffs between staff.

Market context

The finance managed services market is increasingly contested ground. Accounting workflow automation has attracted a cluster of well-funded vendors in recent years, including Trintech, BlackLine and Workiva, each of which has pursued similar AI-assisted close and reconciliation capabilities. The broader Business Process Outsourcing market is under pressure from CFOs who want granular, real-time data rather than periodic reporting packs, a tension that AI-native platforms are positioned to address.

Talent pressure is a genuine structural driver here. Qualified accountants remain in short supply in the UK, with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) flagging pipeline shortfalls in recent membership surveys. Outsourced finance functions that can offer flexible capacity, without the cost and lag of direct hiring, carry real commercial appeal in the current environment.

For PwC, the move also reflects a broader professional services trend: the shift from advisory-only engagements to managed, outcome-based delivery models. The firm's scale, at more than 364,000 people across 136 countries, gives it the headcount to staff outsourced finance functions at volume, while FloQast provides the software layer that makes those operations auditable and visible to clients in real time.

Regulatory read-across

UK finance functions operating under outsourced models must comply with Financial Reporting Council (FRC) guidance on governance and accountability, and regulated entities face additional obligations under sector-specific frameworks such as the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) for financial services firms. The presence of a continuous digital audit trail, as promised by the FloQast platform, is directly relevant to these requirements and could become a commercial differentiator if FRC enforcement of internal controls standards tightens, a direction signalled in its recent supervision activity.

Neither party disclosed the commercial terms of the partnership, the number of clients initially onboarded, or any revenue targets associated with the expanded arrangement.
