BAG Ventures closes $11.3m Fund I to back enterprise AI founders
BAG Ventures has reached a final close on its inaugural Fund I at $11.3 million, targeting pre-seed and seed-stage B2B software companies building enterprise AI systems. The San Francisco-based firm was co-founded by Bonita C. Stewart and Jackson Georges Jr., both former Entrepreneurs in Residence at Google and CapitalG, and the fund marks the institutional launch of a network they have been building since 2021.
The limited partner base comprises 150 investors, of whom the firm says 85% are senior technology leaders and more than 25% are technical specialists in AI, engineering or security. Named LP employers include Google, NVIDIA, Snowflake, Amazon, General Motors and Vanguard. The firm draws additional resource from the BAG Collective, described as a community of more than 450 technology operators who have been investing together since 2021. An advisory board includes David Krane of GV, Laela Sturdy of CapitalG and Robin Washington of Salesforce.
"Our network isn't a talking point; it's the product," said Jackson Georges Jr., Managing Partner. "Our LPs and advisors are technology leaders who have spent careers solving the exact problems our portfolio companies are tackling."
Portfolio momentum
Fund I has completed ten investments across enterprise AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, vertical applications and agentic workflows. Three portfolio companies are named in the release. Nomadic, founded by Harvard computer science graduates Mustafa Bal and Varun Krishnan, is an agentic reasoning platform that converts footage from autonomous vehicles and robots into structured datasets; it recently closed an $8.4 million seed round at a reported $50 million valuation, led by TQ Ventures with participation from Pear VC and investor Jeff Dean. SXD, founded by Shelly Xu, applies AI to reducing material waste in manufacturing for customers in fashion and automotive; it closed an oversubscribed $4.5 million pre-seed led by Initialized Capital. BizTrip, an AI-native corporate travel booking agent co-founded by Andrew Ng, took first place at the GBTA Silicon Valley pitch competition and appeared on PhocusWire's Hot 25 Travel Startups for 2026, with co-investors including RRE Ventures and Ng's AI Fund.
The disclosed valuations and round sizes for portfolio companies are sourced from the release and have not been independently verified.
Market context
An $11.3 million debut fund is modest against the capital concentrations now common in enterprise AI, where a single large-language-model infrastructure deal can absorb that sum at the seed stage alone. BAG Ventures is positioning itself not on fund size but on operator density: the thesis is that warm introductions to procurement decision-makers at major enterprise accounts compress the sales cycles that routinely kill early-stage B2B companies.
The strategy reflects a broader shift in early-stage venture towards what practitioners call "high-conviction, high-touch" models, where a small fund compensates for limited capital by offering portfolio companies access to design partners and referenceable customers. Several comparable micro-funds have emerged targeting vertical AI niches, making differentiation through network quality a credible, if difficult to audit, value proposition. For enterprise buyers evaluating AI vendors, the presence of operators from their own peer group as LPs in a fund can function as an informal quality signal.
Stewart and Georges bring complementary experience: Stewart spent 18 years at Google as VP of Global Partnerships before moving to venture, while Georges led portfolio growth at CapitalG after roles in Google's large customer sales and HR organisations. BAG Ventures has not disclosed a target fund size for a Fund II or a timeline for its next raise.
